How it gets to you
Layout places your order with the restaurant, exactly like it always does. Then a driver picks it up and brings it straight to your address. There is no second app, no second checkout, and no third party you have to talk to.
We use the Uber Direct network to handle that last part, which means shorter waits and better coverage than we could build on our own. To be clear about what this is: Uber is not a partner of Layout, and Layout is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Uber. We use Uber Direct as a delivery network, the same way any business can.
Delivery at cost
When you choose delivery, you pay what the driver costs and nothing more. Layout does not mark it up, does not add a delivery fee, and does not take a cut of it. Our ordering fee is the same one you already pay.
The app you order through shows the delivery cost up front, next to your food total. Nothing is placed and nothing is charged until you confirm. If the delivery price is not worth it to you that day, switch to pickup and move on.
Delivery works within a radius
Delivery only covers restaurants within a set distance of your address. Your favorite spot across town might be pickup only, and that is fine. If somewhere is out of range, your assistant will say so and offer pickup instead of guessing.
Delivery is an option, not the default. If you want to grab it yourself, just ask for pickup and everything works the way it always has.
